Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and is the only person to be recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic performance. Bela Karolyi later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just 6 years old. First competing in the junior national championships of Romania in the year 1969, she finished 13th. Then in the year 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. The first time she competed in an international meet, which was a preolympics junior competition that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she won crowned all-around Junior Champion. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals aswell as one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first female to do a backward double salto as dismounting from the uneven bars that are parallel. Her path into the entertainment business began during her teens when she began skating figure along with her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol was a part of the entertainment industry as a teenager. She began her career as model skater with her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows called Ice Capades. Ice Capades was a show that featured skating on ice by actors.
