April Lockhart is a born on July 4 in 1995. As a seventh-grade student, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion to write songs. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. At the age of 14, April devoted much of her time to singing and writing songs. The songwriting began with her dad and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April also began to include different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle with issues such as peer pressure disabilities and even teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with popular clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. Lockhart was born with no left hand and that is an aspect of her identity, but this isn't the whole truth. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not shy away from her being disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. It's a reminder. I continue to do my normal activities and have adjusted to the limitations of my disability. However, it's a component of me, so I believe that it's crucial to speak about. She admits that she has had periods where she was uncomfortable dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. Today, she wears anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social media, she is proud of herself. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a destination.
