The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. Ashford was the main character in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Other Broadway performances include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
